Topic: Arduino as ISP Error (Read 733 times) previous topic - next topic

I'm using (or trying to, at least) an Arduino Pro mini 5v 16mhz (atmega328P)to program the bootloader on a atmega 328.

I have the (to be programmed) chip with a 16mhz crystal and supporting hardware.

I've uploaded the ArduinoISP to the pro mini, and put the 120ohm resistor to bypass the auto reset. I have the board setting to program a 5v 16mhz pro mini.

Now, when I try to burn the bootloader with arduino as ISP i get an error:

Yikes!  Invalid device signature.
Double check connections and try again, or use -F to override
         this check.

Any ideas? I've already double checked the wiring.

Thanks

Have you selected :

Arduino Duemilanove or Nano w/ ATmega328

in the boards menu?

Yes, I've tried that. It gives me lots of errors.
