What happens if we accidentally ground a collector pin in the common emitter circuit?

I mean does the transistor still function?

The reason is, I accidentally, grounded the collector pin instead of emitter and still see current flow in my led cube circuit but the cube is behaving erratically!

Primarily, how is the cube first getting the current from transistors to light up the cube? The erratic part is secondary though!

You may well have damaged the transistor.

A circuit diagram would help
