Hi,

I have a Duemilanove 168 and tried to program a 328 via the bootloader method. Afterwards I saw that it was only possible with a Duemilanove 328 on board smiley-sad-blue.

Is it possible, when I order a AtMeg328 chip with Arduino bootloader, to replace the AtMeg168? Does the hardware supports that and do I then get the programmer facilities then and al the normal Arduino things? Or does the hardware such a change not?

Yes, you can just swap them out - Just remember to choose the 328 duemilanove in boards menu.

No - You need he extra RAM in the 328 for the program to run.  Easier just to buy a pre-bootloaded chip (or find someone willing to do it for you).
