I am a new iPad user.  I am not able to
access the entire contents of the code display
window when using the iPad2.  The window is dotted line around
the code and I can NOT scroll the code.

Is there a setting that I need to make or is
a possible bug in the Forum code?

Has any of the moderators seen this post?

If so is there a fix for my problem?

So am I the only person trying to access this forum with an iPad?

Or at least the only one trying to read long code postings...

Don't know, certainly I don't own one. Maybe a poll question would answer your question.

It does appear that I am the only person trying to read a long code window with iPad.

I am surprised that my initial inquiry has not been addressed by a moderator.

Use two fingers (index + middle) close together within the code box .  When it stars scrolling you can remove one finger and scroll around with the other.  If the whole page starts zooming in or out, you are not quite doing it right.  Practice.

biocow

+1 on the 2 fingers. That's how apple has you scroll in a scroll area like that.

It does take a bit of practice.
10 PRINT CHR$(7)
20 GOTO 10

White Elf & biocow,
thank you very much for the tip.

I tried it and will need some practice
as it was pretty hit and miss to get my
fingers placed properly.

I've found some text areas are small so 2 finger right side by side works best and it's best if they are exactly horizontal to the page. Once you start scrolling it's OK to go outside the text box. It knows you want to keep scrolling that text field. Then if you have to lift up and scroll again you start in the text area again and scroll.

Good luck
10 PRINT CHR$(7)
20 GOTO 10

I had to use this technique on the iPhone just yesterday! I was glad I had read about it here, or I'd have been mystified...

White Elf

That's how I tested it, on my iPhone.  Can be real tricky on the small screen.  Haven't go my iPad 2 yet.  Apple need to hurry up and deliver it. :D

I'll try this technique when I get home. I_finger_pointing_stuff are definitely not developed for people that read long codes. The web browser options are the least abundant among web browsers since I first browsed the web in the 90's. I sometimes pick up my ipad and read a few posts and attempt to reply and then told myself no I'd better turn on my main computer. The pad is just an expensive toy that keeps selling you more stuff.

It's not just an expensive toy, though it may be for you. I bought one for my 79 year old mom, who'd never gotten the hang of any other computer, and she's taken to it like a fish to water. The whole mouse thing with the arrow on the screen was too big of a disconnect, but point, touch HERE. *That* makes sense.

Wow, you signed up for the forum so you could post that?! What a well-reasoned, non-flame-bait posting!
