Having your Arduino control higher-power devices like lights, motors, pumps, doors, and many more is one of the most interesting and useful applications you may get involved with. But it can be a little difficult and possibly dangerous when power line voltages are being controlled.

This wiki section covers many of the considerations about having your little Arduino control large amounts of power using relays, Power FETs etc.

I am still developing this and other sections of the site. All comments, critiques and suggestions are appreciated!

You should mention the "power tail" devices out there for AC (makes it easier and safer for beginners):

When it comes to handling 110/230V AC I realy prefere to use Double Pull Double Throw. Somthing like this: 5V 100 mA and it even comes with a DIN rail.

Then again it might just be that Denmark are using some non-standard Schuko plugs that can be rotated 180º in the socket.
