Topic: Bootloading Atmega32u4 with Arduino (Read 65 times) previous topic - next topic

Sorry for my lack of understanding with bootloading, it's all fairly new to me.
I would like to add the Arduino bootloader to the Atmega32u4, off the shelf, I want to learn how it works, instead of buying a "pre-made" chip. So how can I go about doing this? Could I use something like this except for the 32u: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Flap-QFP32-TQFP32-PQFP32-TO-DIP32-Universal-Programmer-Socket-Adapter-Conveter-/261576182550

Also, could someone explain how to add USB connection to the board? It may be fairly simple and easy to figure out, but why not ask!

To figure out usb to the board, you just have to read the datasheet and look for the usb pins (32u4 has usb built in). The connect the pins to your favorite usb connector (A, B, micro or mini). Id look for leonardo schematic and replicate it, there may be some decoupler caps and pull up resistor and diodes that Im not mentioning.
