Hi,

i want to attach a normal microphone to my laptop's line-in. Furthermore i'ld like to get access to the sound recorded by the microphone from arduino to to further processing (like fft etc.)

How can this be achieved?

The Processing project, a PC-side ancestor of Arduino, may offer a solution.  Try your question on the forums over there at http://forum.processing.org

An amplifier that takes in very low level signals and amplifies them so that there is enough signal to drive a regular amplifier.
