Hey,

I've written some code to interface with these pretty nice displays from Osram. Unfortunately, I don't know if they're still being sold, as I've bought a bunch of them on an auction a couple of years ago -- your mileage may vary. Anyway, the code to interface them is available here: https://gist.github.com/1021747, and a photo displaying the results of this code running is below.
