I'm honestly not sure where this belongs, but I thought some would be interested. My brother gave me the link based on a loosely related conversation we were having. I read somewhere around here people were interested in energy harvesting and sensor networks. This device seems specifically designed to facilitate that.

I'm not associated in any way. Just thought it was interesting and shared.

That's pretty neat. They just need to have one small enough to replace a button cell!

Linear Technology sells a number of energy harvesting chips if you're interesting in playing with something like that. The LTC3588 is designed for piezoelectric power generation: http://www.linear.com/products/energy_harvesting
