In every LED datasheet is the Current and the Voltage declared.
The current is declared as max, anything less is fine. Modern leds are very bright at the common max current of 20mA. As a indicator 1mA or 2mA are plenty. The voltage is the forward voltage @ max current but that will not change very much with current.

I just made a sample calculation.
And that's fine. I only added the circuit this way is pore design :)

The voltage drop over the diode can be different if you use another diodes.
If you use a normal diode it's not going to be very different. If you use a Schottky diode it will be less, around 200mV-300mV.
