Bigger Bigger Smaller Smaller Reset Reset

Hi, I just bought this little switch ( http://www.sparkfun.com/products/8034 ) to experiment with , and I was wondering if I could get some help figuring out the best way to get the data in.

Without an IC would I have to hook it to 8 separate digital in's?

Also, what would be the best way of hooking it up?  (ex. what pin would 5v go to?)

-Any help I can I'd truly appreciate as I'm quite the beginner. Thanks!

Yes this is designed to use eight inputs. However you can put resistors on the inputs and generate an analogue signal to read with the analogue input pin, but you will struggle to get a diffrent reading for all eight pins, probably you could do two lots of four and use two analogue input pins. Look up analogue input switch.
