Topic: connecting reciver, (Read 1 time) previous topic - next topic

Hi Everyone
I am currently working on making a portable alarm system and have run into a bit of a snag.

That being I can't figure out how to connect the receiver I have to the arduino board and check that it is responding to the transmitter properly. The receiver has been set to accept the code that the transmitter sends.

Receiver: RX1-RC+ (30 user). single channel. Rolling code reciver. Identification: Reciver: cobalt blue. Transmitter: cobalt blue
Transmitter: E.T. Systems, set with my gate remote code (binary, dip switch).
int ledPin = 13;
int reciverPin = 2;
//reading ints
int reciverReading;

void setup(){
  pinMode(ledPin, OUTPUT);
  pinMode(reciverPin, INPUT);

void loop(){
  reciverReading = analogRead(reciverPin);
  digitalWrite(ledPin, HIGH);

Would I need to code for the rx and tx pins? And if so how would I do that?
Any advice would be much appreciated, especially on how to hook the receiver up to the arduino.

What do you mean by the rx and tx pins?
The output of the receiver (rx) is a relay, from what I can see.

am using an uno, the first two output pins (0 and 1) have tx and rx next to them, i assume that these are meant for receiving/transmitting. but have no idea how to code for them or if they are even meant to be used in the case of connecting a receiver

the first two output pins (0 and 1) have tx and rx next to them, i assume that these are meant for receiving/transmitting.

They are but they are for asynchronous communications, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asynchronous_communication you send / receive messages using Serial.print and Serial.read commands in your code.

As has been pointed out this is not what your transmitter is sending so they are of no use to you with this transmitter.

thanks for the help. tried connecting it like a normal button before but got no joy, will go back to that and see where i went wrong.
