Topic: Arduino chosen for RepRap (Read 1 time) previous topic - next topic

The RepRap project (http://reprap.org) has just chosen the Arduino for its future developments.

RepRap is a 3D printer that makes real solid plastic objects, so you can use it to make lots of useful stuff.

RepRap can also print most of itself, so - if you have one - you can print another and give it to a friend.  That is to say, RepRap is a self-replicating machine...

Following the principles of the Free Software Movement, RepRap is being distributed at no cost to everyone under the GNU General Public Licence.

Best wishes

RepRap is a great project, and I'm happy you guys have found our work useful.  All the best, and I'm looking forward to the bug reports.  :)

thats just awesome :) i spent gord knows how long looking at the site and watching vids about this project :)

now i want one :P and the addition of using an arduino as the core controller of it is even better :d it just makes it more tempting for people to try and build from scratch :) out of recycled or salvaged parts :)

i'll be watching this with a keen eye..

Great news!  Building a reprap is high on my todo list - finding that Arduino experience will apply makes my day  :D

I wonder if you can use the RepRap to make the PCB for an arduino clone?

but what if it were to become self aware?...
