Hello
I just got a Arduino Uno and a Sparkfun Serial Enabled 16x2 LCD # ADM 1602U.
I try to display the word "Hello" on the lcd using this code:

void setup()
{
  Serial.begin(9600);
  pinMode(1, OUTPUT);
}
void loop ()
{
  Serial.print(245, BYTE);
  Serial.print(1, BYTE);
  Serial.print("Hello ");
}

The word "Hello" appears twice on the screen, surrounded by junk symbols.
If I run the program again, the output changes but the word "Hello" always appears.
As you can see, I am new to electronics and programing.
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
Tom

Not familiar with that particular screen,

the 245 and 1 are some sort of clearscreen command?

the loop() part will print the word hello over and over again , try this for a change

Code: [Select]
void setup()
{
  Serial.begin(9600);
  pinMode(1, OUTPUT);

  Serial.print(245, BYTE);
  Serial.print(1, BYTE);
  Serial.print("Hello ");

}
void loop ()
{
}
