Topic: which Ultrasonic Range Finder is better? (Read 682 times) previous topic - next topic


Hello everybody,
I want to order my first robot (http://www.robotshop.com/eu/dfrobotshop-rover-tracked-robot-basic-kit.html)
And now I have one question: which Ultrasonic Range Finder is better?
or this one
I want connect it to Analog input, so without sending pulse and reading. Because I think pulse sending and reading is more difficult then read simple analog value for beginner.
Actually I want this one (http://www.robotshop.com/eu/maxbotix-xl-maxsonar-ae0-high-performance-sonar-module-2.html), but when I saw Maxbotix ultrasonic sensor selection guide (www.robotshop.com/eu/content/PDF/maxbotix-ultrasonic-sensor-selection-guide.pdf).
On the last page of selection guide (http://i55.tinypic.com/b4xatv.jpg) I have marked it red. The working type of sensor is a little bit strange compare to other...  And I don`t understand what it means..
I hope you get what I mean and somebody can help me with choose.

I'd go with parallax PING))) http://www.robotshop.com/eu/productinfo.aspx?pc=RB-Plx-73&lang=en-US, very easy to code, and there's an example code on arduino.cc http://arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/Ping
it send pulses to digital input, but trust me it's very easy to use, i bought my Arduino a month ago, and I've done a lot of projects using PING)))...
