Topic: Portable barcode scanner (Read 1 time) previous topic - next topic

This is a little demo showing newly released HID boot support for USB host shield - interfacing with barcode scanner. Enjoy -> http://www.circuitsathome.com/mcu/connecting-barcode-scanner-arduino-usb-host-shield

Nice writeup!

I wonder if you could hack it to bypass the button and constantly scan? Thinking something along the lines a fixed scanner that can scan objects with barcodes as they pass by? Not sure if this is possible with that type of scanner...

I'm playing with CueCat scanner at the moment - it scans non-stop. I'll post here when I get working code.

My handheld barcode scanner can be set to scan constantly.  It came with special settings barcodes that you scan to set various settings (such as what barcode protocol it's using).

As for using a barcode scanner on an arduino, wouldn't it be easier to interface a p/s2 scanner?

CueCat is just another HID boot device, it works as-is (don't forget to declaw it) -> http://www.circuitsathome.com/mcu/cuecat-meets-arduino-works-with-hid-boot-code
