Our Home Automation Gator PLC is not complete without the Internet.
We chose the IOBridge IO-204 and their smart serial board, to
do the following, in our application:

#1. Send email alerts.
#2. Send cellphone alerts.
#3. Log data
#4. Stream serial data to a secure internet server for user display.
#5. Open/close garage door, check status of our devices and other control applications.
#6. Get Internet projected weather forecast data for our smart sprinkler control system.

This Internet enabled IOBridge module "just works" - we were able to get online in seconds. For further info, visit their website at IOBridge.com
Link: http://www.iobridge.com/

Note: Our application only used a portion of the capabilities of IOBridge module. Needless to say, there is much more that this module can provide for an Arduino user.

The first picture (Below) is the closeup of the IOBridge internet module.
Notice the smart serial device on port 1 we used to stream serial data from the Gator's spare serial port to the internet.

The second picture (Below) is our complete Home Automation Gator PLC connected to the Internet.
