Is there A way to program the Arduino to send A email if switch is pushed on the board.  So what I am looking to do is use one switch and hook it up to I/O pin on the Arduino.  When the switch is pushed it will send 5volts to the Arduino that will go into the computer and send A email to my iphone.  Can this be done?

How will the computer connect to the Arduino? Also, do you already have a program or script on your computer that can send an email? (standalone, not using the Arduino)

Yes, IIRC 2 or 3 weeks ago there was a posting of someone with an email client (with an ethernetshield), just search the forum in the upper right "email client" and you will get some hits how to do it.

You will need an applicaion running on the pc to listen for incomming communication from the arduino and send the email.

Consider the daffodil. And while you're doing that, I'll be over here, looking through your stuff.   smiley-cool

You can use an ethernet shield. It's expensive but it will send emails and can email to an sms gateway for text messages.

The less expensive option is to leave the USB connected to a computer and have a program on the computer accept messages and it sends the emails. You can look at the processing language for that.
