Topic: Serial Communication Garbled (Read 1 time) previous topic - next topic

I have a problem with the serial communication on my Arduino Uno, Rev2.  I have checked the rev. # for the atmega serial to USB chip, and it is current.  I can program the chip and the information coming back through the USB to the Serial Terminal is fine, but if I disconnect the USB and hook to pins 0 & 1 the Serial information I get is garbled, consistent, but garbled.  I have removed the chip and connected the USB cable and the serial port, opened two terminals and sent communications through the Atmega chip, and they come out garbled, when i send the same message through each end i get the same garbled message out the other end.  Can any one help? Thanks!

Do you understand that one might be TTL and the other inverted rs232?

It has been my experience that pins 0 and 1 are TTL.
