You could probably build something like this on a smaller scale using shiftbrites or octobrites from macetech (it still wouldn't be cheap). Maybe it could be made somewhat cheaper (depending on how you value your time) using discrete RGB LEDs (and all that entails - shift registers, etc). Now I'm kinda wanting to build a small 4 x 4 foot one myself for above my desk here at home (then again, I could just open my blinds, I suppose - but that would let the evil, evil sun in).

I don't know, people. I think it would give you more of a headache than stress relief. LED light is not the same as natural light.
