I have bought a cloned Ethernet Shield from Ebay (link below)

When I attach it to my UNO Board, I can not connect to it via serial, it does not create a virual Com port on my computer.

Would there be a short or error in the board, or is it designed this way?

Have you been able to run any example code on the UNO without the ethernet shield attached?
