Has anyone had any experience making standalone arduino setups that plays sampled sound? I want to make an untethered (battery-powered) arduino capable of playing sounds from some kind of source (without requiring a PC). I imagine interfacing with some kind of eeprom playback device, but don't really know where to start looking (my googling attempts are futile so far, at least until I find that magical keyword that one uses for these things). Any pointers, anyone?

The Winbond Chipcorder ISDxxxx family might be what you're looking for.

hi

there are some Ipod hacks for the Arduino around too, if you search the forum.
