hola gentes,
i'd like to try using a plant as a switch like in this project:http://www.interface.ufg.ac.at/christa-laurent/WORKS/PlantsLinks.html but the porblem is that i not really know what i need to get started. I know that they attached some wiring to the roots of the plant and measured the change of the electrical potential. So they got a lot more data to grow plants based on how one touches the plant. Is a potentiometer what i need? i really just need on/off for what i plan.
thnx

you might try a capacitive sensing approach.

check out this post - it's one way of capacitive sensing
