Topic: creating sensors that work by induction? (as RFID) (Read 471 times) previous topic - next topic

I wonder if there's a generic way of creating an RFID-like setup, but more general, to work with sensors. Basically the idea would be to have a sensor connected to an induction-based component. If I ping the whole thing, the induction-based stuff would get some power (as in an RFID tag), fire up the sensor, and send back the sensor data.

This way, a powerless, passive sensor could be built, which fires up whenever an active reader pings it.

Does anyone know of such a generic, induction-based component?
