Topic: I can't burn the bootloader on Paperduino (Read 899 times) previous topic - next topic

Hi there!
I'm really noob! (and the search box didn't help me, so forgive me!)
My problem is the following: I can't burn the bootloader on a Paperduino with the parallel programmer.
When I'm going to burn the bootloader I receive the following message:

avrdude: AVR device not responding
avrdude: initialization failed, rc=-1
avrdude: Yikes!  Invalid device signature.
avrdude: Expected signature for ATMEGA8 is 1E 93 07
avrdude: AVR device not responding
***failed; 
avrdude: verification error, first mismatch at byte 0x0000
         0xca != 0xff
avrdude: verification error; content mismatch

I have one idea about what's wrong: I'm using the parallel port for burning (but in the arduino software all the ports are serial - COM1 to N), but I'm a little bit confused about this situation.

OK.
I rebuild the circuit and the parallel cable and I tried once again.
Same result! It means that either the cable I used is wrong or I did mistakes in the circuit.
So I started looking around, trying to understand what's wrong.
If I look at the avrdude config file I see that the "dapa" programmer (paralle programmer) uses MISO, MOSI, SCK, RESET and pin3 (VCC) connections but the cable [url]http://arduino.cc/en/Hacking/ParallelProgrammer?from=Main.ParallelProgrammer/url] uses connections with MISO, MOSI, SCK, RESET and Ground. Is that correct?
Using avrdude which are the commands to test the board and to burn the bootloader?
