Topic: Powering an arduino with 5v (Read 786 times) previous topic - next topic

Does anyone know if it's possible to power an Arduino directly from 5v? I have a 6 and 5v rail in my current project, and I'd like to add an Arduino without running an additional 9v rail.

Can I connect 5v to the 5v output, and bypass the regulator?

You should be able to.  Or at least, I have and it's worked.  As long as you're giving the chip a regulated 5V supply, I think you should be okay.

I tried that too, but removed the PowerSelect jumper. Otherwise you probably feed the external 5V supply back into the USB-port.
