REALLY simple wireless?

Lots of stuff is illegal, doesn't stop people from doing it tho.
I would think not being at all useful would be more of a deterrent.

The 434s also, same price

And a High Sensitivity set for 80 cents more, higher data rate
http://www.robotshop.com/433mhz-high-sensitivity-transmitter-receiver-pair-rxa33.html

And a Seeedstudio version as well for $4.99

i have been using that style with the virtualwire library with great success

(I think Marconi used a spark transmitter to transmit the first signal over the atlantic !)

I think Marconi used a spark transmitter to transmit the first signal over the atlantic !

I suspect he wasn't too concerned about EMC back then.

and no-one else was transmitting!

Thought they just gave it a cool acronym and reduced the power? (UWB)

If you build a 'simple' RF link and get it wrong you might block emergency services' or aircraft frequencies... This is illegal and irresponsible. Buy a pre-built approved module (or become a radio amateur and learn to do it properly - less simple)

I'll just get a Nordic.

We just got an ad. It showed up on the notification email, not here, though. I guess someone erased it.

I think I really learned from this site a lot of important information and hope this site will be more to do better.

What was the point of that?
And where did they get "oakley" from?!?!?!?!?!?

But why not expel the concerned user?

Really simple: Just hit ebay:

On the other hand, full transceiver on breakout board, with built-in antenna for $4.75:

Very likely. Lately, AWOL has been the The Death of Spam (somewhat akin to The Death of Rats but more aggressive).

Why is it even worth a second glance? Much less discussion here?

Exactly. Please don't bother discussing the spam. Just report it.

They do.

Spam (and other inappropriate postings) should be reported using the "Report to moderator" link right down there in the lower right corner of this box.

Exactly.

But why not expel the concerned user?

They get expelled.

But it doesn't prevent them from coming back under another name tomorrow.

They do.

We try to get to spam as quickly as possible, but mostly it relies on users reporting it*.
For some reason, most seems to occur when I'm asleep, so CodingBadly fields that, but there are still parts of the day where it may build up.

I have zero tolerance, and I send spammers a warning PM - if the spam is a new thread, it gets moved to Garbage, this automatically puts a redirection message at the original location, which I try to delete as soon as possible.
If the spam is a response ("Hi there thanks for sharing",with a spam signature), I simply delete it, PM the perp and move on.

But please, keep on reporting it.

*sometimes, there are easily-spotted precursors, and these perps get a special treatment.

I looked over closely but, I am still unsure. Can that wireless device be used just like a (FTDI USB to TTL cable) or USB to TTL chip? Does it share all of the same pin functions but, just named a little differently?

Thanks,
Mark

I don't believe so... it's just a Nordic transceiver.

It is really, really simple.
But either unlicensable, illegal or both.

Why would this be illegal? I never knew that wireless transmissions were restricted that much. That sounds like one of those laws that would be profoundly hard to enforce

Wow I didn't know that. I suppose if you stuck to frequencies commonly used by remote control cars or whatever that wouldn't really be a problem. I'm trying to imagine just generating some random signal in an attempt to transmit data small distances and a hour or two later cops showing up at your door. That would be surprising

Well, it would be OK until the kids next door started playing with their R/C cars.
