macos 10.5.8

Using Arduino IDE 1.x

Hi All,
When I try to launch the Audino ide under macos 10.5.8,
I get:

open Arduino.app/
LSOpenFromURLSpec() failed with error -10810 for the file /Applications/programming/Arduino.app.

It works find under 10.6+
Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

Is the machine running 10.5.8 a PPC or Intel?

Change the batteries in your wireless mouse? I know that sounds very weird indeed, but that was one of the suggestions I found when I Googled "os/x error 10810".

It's not just the Arduino IDE, it sounds like it is related to too many processes running or something.
