Wifi only connects when connected to Arduino with serial monitor.

Ok. I dug out a 12v 1000 mA power supply and hitched it up. It still would only connect when connected via the serial monitor.
Then I did the 3-7 pin jumper and it's connecting automagically without the serial monitor running.
