Lest we forget. ANZAC day in Australia

Australia and New Zealand today commemorate those who have fought and died in war.

As I get older, I think more of what they have given in order that we can live free.
I give thanks to all who have and continue to go to war on our behalf.

We will remember them.

I had 12 uncles who went to war, all lived. WOW.

And some days we think things are bad. Not!

Hi,
We don't realise how good we have it.

Both parents served in WW2, of course they came back, but they could have told you they knew too many who didn't.

Lest We Forget.

Here in the Netherlands we remember the end of WW2 every year on two days. May 4th to remember the people fallen in WW2 and thereafter, and May 5th to celebrate the freedom they gave us.

The southern part of NL where I live was liberated earlier, Sept 17th 1944 as part of operation Market Garden. It was remembered last year even more intense as it was 70 yrs ago. Some veterans are still alive (and kicking!). There are several musea on whats called the liberation route.
