looking for Arduino teacher in San Francisco for a 1 wk. summer camp position!

Summer Camp at the JCCSF offers one, two and three-week sessions in both the traditional day camp and specialty camp settings for campers in grades K-8. Summer Camp is in session June 4 - August 17. Our classic day camps feature arts & crafts, field trips, swimming, cooking and sports. Specialty camps include visual arts, construction, culinary, nature, musical theater, science and more.
The Technology Specialist will create, organize, and implement a week-long curriculum of Arduinos and Circuitry (6/18-6/22), and a week-long half day curriculum of coding for kids.

The ideal candidate is a school teacher or technology hobbyist who can create a fun classroom curriculum to introduce and teach circuitry, working with LED’s, servo motors, and project-based learning. Candidates should have strong classroom management skills and must be able to implement a well-rounded technology curriculum for youth ages 5 - 12.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prepare for and deliver one week of Arduinos and Circuits, including creating supply lists, developing objectives, curriculum development and teach daily lessons in a fun playful environment
• Implement an interactive, age appropriate curriculum
• Maintain in proper working order the tools, circuits, components, and class materials
• Supervise general counselors and teen leaders (when applicable)
• Support camper drop-off and pick-up processes
• Provide excellent customer service to camp families by communicating with them about their camper’s experience
• Set-up camp room and cleanup daily
• Implement daily safety check of hardware equipment (batteries, motors, wires, cpu’s, resistors, capacitors, etc.).
• Create a daily objectives and curriculum schedule
• Practice personal leadership skills.
• Model appropriate behavior for campers.
• Set clear and consistent limits and resolve behavioral problems with assistance from supervisors.
• Additional responsibilities as required.

REQUIREMENTS:
• At least 2 years’ experience in computer lab, or similar environment
• Knowledge of Scratch, C/C++, Python, or similar coding language
• Knowledge of resistors, capacitors,
• Knowledge and ability to explain and facilitate age-appropriate skills for young elementary school-aged campers.
• Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral.
• Passions for technology, tinkering, coding, informal education and youth programs.
• Knowledge of summer camps preferred
• Ability to work well both in a team environment and independently.
• Must have enthusiasm, flexibility, and ability to improvise a must.
• Must be 21 years or older.

DATE AND HOUR REQUIREMENTS:
• Spring Hours – some prep time preferred in May and June
• Arduinos and Circuits camp runs June 18 – June 22, 8AM – 4PM
• Coding camp runs July 30 – August 3, 8AM – 12PM
