Connecting solid wires to pins

For a project, I'd like to use an HC-SR04 sensor connected to a Arduino board; I want no irreversible connections (e.g. soldering), but due to a space restrictions I also cannot use something like a small breadboard.

Does anyone have any suggestions for this? I need the connection to be strong as quite some force will be applied to the device (it is mounted onto a waste bin that will get picked up by a truck). I don't mind damaging/bending the wires, I just don't want to have the replace the ultrasonic sensor itself later on.

Plugs. Well, actually sockets. Plugs are the ones with pins. Sockets have holes.

"No irreversible connections" is impossible. But you can solder a plug or socket onto your sensor to make it replaceable and moveable.

You need "male to female Dupont cables".

Yea you need male to female Dupont wires like this.

Hi,
There is a lot of How-To connection information and photos HERE.

I use header pins removed from the plastic carrier. I solder wires to them and plug them into the female header. I also use a bit of heatshrink.

I find 90° Header pins work best.

Soldering is not irreversible. Do it. Anything else is an unnecessary compromise.
