Direct Drive Washing Machine & High Voltage ESC

By mains, do you mean that 110V alternating current is applied directly to the windings of the brushless motor stator? I guess I'm confused as to how that works, because then you only have 3 steps... applying voltage across Windinws AB, BC, and AC. As opposed to six steps with DC AB, BC, AC, BA, CB, CA. And everything I read about these motors say that they are six step motors.

I believe I've read on some sites that it is DC that is applied to the motor, but it's more in the range of 150 to 200V. Would that make a difference?

Is it feasible to drive this motor at full speed controlling it via an arduino? The washer works perfect except for the control board, which is discontinued. I'd love to save this washer and get it working again if I can.
