The Complier that does not compile

So I was coding something, and I made significant changes, so I always compile every once in a while. Usually 2 or 3 times.

So I compiled.

And the console said, "

Compilation failed. Please report this issue on our Forum"

I don't know weather it is just my PC or is the complier too busy on the server or what-so-ever.

Here is the code:

Please help me.

Thanks.

Report it on their forum as the error message says.

Looks like you are using a 3rd-party Elegoo board and hardware.

On Elegoo fourm?

When you said compiler server did you mean the Arduino CREATE IDE the online one ?

Did you download the correct libraries to match the sketch ?

Did you correctly install those libraries ?

  1. Arduino create (online version)

  2. Yes. All example sketches worked before. Even Modified ones worked.

  3. Yes. [Insert answer 2's reason here!]

OK so this post should have gone to CREATE section.

Can you post the working SHARE links to a couple you are having issues with please.

Help. I have no idea what you mean. :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

In to top of the main CREATE screen are 5 boxes and one is very clearly marked SHARE

That will allow you to share a link directly to your sketch so that other create users can copy it to thier CREATE page or download it to look at it better.

It is quite hard to miss.

Oh. :o :o :o

Here it is, I think: Arduino Cloud

:o

I've been trying to upload some example sketches for the tft lcd, but they never work.

They do upload, but they always end up stuck in a forever loop.

This is what the serial monitor says:

Paint!
Unknown LCD driver chip: 101
If using the Elegoo 2.8" TFT Arduino shield, the line:
  #define USE_Elegoo_SHIELD_PINOUT
should appear in the library header (Elegoo_TFT.h).
If using the breakout board, it should NOT be #defined!
Also if using the breakout, double-check that all wiring
matches the tutorial.

Here is the example code provided by the libraries:

// Paint example specifically for the TFTLCD breakout board.
// If using the Arduino shield, use the tftpaint_shield.pde sketch instead!
// DOES NOT CURRENTLY WORK ON ARDUINO LEONARDO

Your sketch link works just fine.

The issue initially looks like Elegoo has forked a few libs to call thier own.
Cant tell yet if they did a good job or a bad job.

If they UPLOAD then its not a CREATE issue but an ELEGOO issue.

May be better to ask them about where they got the ORIGINAL libs and revert to those.
I had a look for Elegoo's repo on GITHUB but didn't find anything specific or owned by Elegoo.

The very first time I uploaded a sketch with the elegoo libraries, everything was fine for a couple months. Then, I started to have this issue and then it went back to working perfectly. Then, a couple months later, it starts again.

Which is last month.

My best guess is that Arduino create was updated and elegoo never rewrote the libraries for the new version of create.

When I thought about it, It didn't make sense because last week was the second time I "updated the libraries".

And how do you know where to put the topics? I seem to have trouble with it.

Elegoo specific libs are not part of CREATES library manager or system.
A search inside of create turns up nothing.
SO thats no github and nothing in the lib manager for create or the regular IDE

How did you update the libs were they offered as an update somehow ?

That screen is supposedly an IL series so I am pretty sure that MCUFRIEND or the Adafruit libs may be a better choice as at least they are regularly maintained.

Would suggest this whole topic is moved over to displays if you are OK with that as there are some fantastic people that know this stuff better than me.
They should be able to get you going now we know its not a CREATE issue.

Yeah go move it to displays and in fact I just imported the same libraries but Arduino Create thinks that a new lib that matches a header in the libs is an update to a lib

Never seen and update lib message in Create ? most odd !

Anyhow lets get it moved to a better area.

How many custom libs do you have in Arduino create or IDE?

How many custom libs do you have in Arduino create ballscrewbob?

Sorry for the double post, I didn't see that the Arduino forum created a new page for this topic so I kept posting without knowing that it went on a new page.

It makes me feel so stupid. :o

There is a limit for most users to the amount of actual space they have available.

Its not the amount of custom libs its the space they take up.
Libs on average take up 2.5 to 4 times the space of a sketch.

You can check your usage stats from the preferences tab of Create.
It is also the reason I have a set method of uploading libs so as not to double up or use space that I may need later on.

Attached file to help you decide.

Importing sketches and libraries.pdf (285 KB)

Article is helpful, will look through Tft lib from Elegoo.
