What is this thing??

hi everybody
i know this is a very novice question but i really want to know it
i just disassembled an old sony vhs tape reader.
i was trying to find some parts to use in my arduino projects.
and i came across to this part.
it has two wires
it was placed nearby the tape strip
i think it was reading the tape

so..
as you are professionals
what is this part and can i use it in my arduino projects?and how?
im open to any suggestions

also i found a little motor in it
how can understand that it's a stepper motor or a normal one?
here is the photo

First picture, I think it is the erase head, an electromagnet used to erase the tape prior to recoding new information onto the tape?

 then which one is reader?
may it be the little part on right in second picture?
that part has 6 wires

I think that is the audio read/write head. The video record/playback head on a VCR is the large spinning part mounted at an angle to the tape which wraps around it.
