MKRFOX1200 not detected in COM Ports

Just bought a new MKRFOX1200 and it not detected by my windows 7 pc. The board is powered as the green LED on the board comes on when a USB cable is plugged in.

This is what I have done so far:
Installed SAMD Boards in Arduino IDE
Installed FTDI drivers and rebooted
Updated Arduino IDE to the latest version & rebooted
Tried using different USB cables and on a Mac laptop as well.
Confirmed the USB cables have data lines, not just power.
Tried multiple USB2 ports on a pc
Double tapped the reset button on the board after connecting the USB cable and still no luck.

What else can I try?

I have had similar problems getting the MKR FOX 1200 serial port to appear
I usually

  1. open the Control Panel > System > Device manager > Ports so I can watch the COM ports appear/disappear
  2. double cllick the reset button - after a few tries a COM port appears
  3. upload the Blink example code so I have a operational program

sometimes when compiling/uploading I have to double click the reset again
I have also found that the COM port can change after upload

None of the suggestions worked. It turned out the Atmel chip on the board was not getting powered. Digikey ended up shipping another board to me free of charge and the new board works perfectly.

Thanks for the suggestions horace.

I am facing the same with a board I bought in Arduino Store.
Actually, I bought two MKRFOX1200 and I was able to connect to one of them but to the other I achieved only once. Even I changed from Windows to Ubuntu and the same is happens.

Could it be a batch of defective boards? Otherwise, I really don't know what to do...

if one board works OK and the other does not it suggests that you have a defective board
I suggest contact the supplier for a replacement
