Can we use the Arduino to control such great LED kits? 
The question is - why would you want to control it with an Arduino?
It already has a serviceable on/ off switch which operates as you open it. I cannot see any other function which would be of value. And any other form of control such as an Arduino would mean having permanent external connections, so the "book" effect would be lost.
