avrdude: stk500_getsync() attempt 1 of 10: not in sync: resp=0xff

Im using:

  • Arduino 1.6.7
  • Arduino UNO Rev3 - genuine and not clone

I'm trying to test upload a sketch to ATmega32A but keeps getting errors:

Warning: platform.txt from core 'MightyCore' contains deprecated recipe.ar.pattern="{compiler.path}{compiler.ar.cmd}" {compiler.ar.flags} {compiler.ar.extra_flags} "{build.path}/{archive_file}" "{object_file}", automatically converted to recipe.ar.pattern="{compiler.path}{compiler.ar.cmd}" {compiler.ar.flags} {compiler.ar.extra_flags} "{archive_file_path}" "{object_file}". I'm using the MightyCore.

"Burn Bootloader" is fine.

So you are programming an Atmega32? What have you tried so far?

So you are programming an Atmega32? What have you tried so far?

Yes im trying to program an ATmega32A-PU using my Arduino UNO as ISP.

Do you know any Atmega core alternative that i can try instead of the MightyCore im using?

did you remember to disable reset on the uno being used as programmer?

You mean this DisablingAutoResetOnSerialConnection? I tried it but still same error.

I received this error yesterday when attempting to update 16U2 firmware on a DUE board following this procedure:

I had changed the command line I used to suit my file location, port etc. and received the same error.
Turns out I had the wrong baud rate setting entered, after using baud rate of 19200 upgrade was successful and no more error message.
