I'm a bit worried that everyone will be crazy advanced than me, so I'm not sure if workshops are for me in general... are they usually inclusive to all levels?
People like working with the beginners. Makes 'em feel smart.

I went to a "warhammer" convention with my son (at the insistence of my ex) and thought I would be intimidated by the whole thing...
Never was I so far off base with an assumption.
Loved the whole thing and found a couple of events I dove right into.
OK only two guys besides me at a table of about 40 kids in full warhammer nerd mode.
Oh and did I mention the females in pixie / elf costumes 
Me and a fellow dad found a bar too and got on quite well.
Seemed he was also forced to attend.
They also had a dad's section with TVs and such.
Same sort of scenario though and went from being a wallflower to a great day out !
Yes it cost me a good chunk of cash but I would do it again in a heartbeat
