The right sensor/trigger?

Hi,

I'm new to arduino and have a drop-case project ahead of me.
To start, I need advice on what sensor or trigger to use for the following action:

As the coin hits the pocket, it falls down a lane/path and triggers a sensor to start a motor (which then makes coins fall down as payout..) The sensor needs to go back to it's pre action state, so that the next coin can trigger the same action.

Any suggestions to what kind of sensor I can use?
