Q: Connect 12v solenoid valve to relay board.

Good day everyone, thanks for your view.

I am still new with relay environment (electrical/electronic stuff),

Currently im working on project that use to control 12v solenoid valve with Arduino UNO.

Item used:
12v Solenoid valve
2 channel relay board
12v power adapter
Female power jack
Arduino UNO (Ignore the Yellow wiring(line))
Moisture sensor (Ignore this/wiring)
Breadboard
Wire

I am trying to control the valve ON/OFF via arduino uno.

I have uploaded my diagram, and the question is, is my diagram correct? If its wrong, i hope somebody can correct it.

Files too big, i have upload it to imgur,

Sorry for the messy color!

Thank You,

Regards,
Kiraichi

The circuit looks good

Since I never used arduino relay board make sure it have transistor built in and diodes to protect against spikes, if in doubt or dont understand dont hesitate to contact me

If the Wall Wart is DC and the solenoid is DC place a kick back diode across the solenoid.

which diode you advice for 12V 0.7A solenoid valve?

1N4007 would work fine

Thanks for such a great question. For my automation class we are using the same type of solenoid to actuate a drink mixer. I got it to work. Thanks for the help.

Hi Peeps!

Im working on a solenoid project where I need to have the 12v solenoid valve controlling water flow of my showerhead. I would like to control the solenoid with a simple button.

I have been researching on how to operate a solenoid and found a couple of ideas:

  1. This uses transistors & diodes: http://www.instructables.com/id/Controlling-solenoids-with-arduino/?ALLSTEPS

  2. And this post here which uses a relay.

What materials I have:

  1. I do have or could make a 9V-battery-powered source (but I think id rather use a 120V AC source and somehow convert it to DC. For now Ill stick to the 9V x 2 battery pack idea. What would I need to power it from the wall socket?

  2. 12V solenoid valve

  3. 1k resistor, breadboard, jumpers

  4. TIP120 transistor - I need to get one - i only have a IRLB8721

  5. 1N4004 - I need to get one - i only have a 2N2222

I guess I could use a relay but I only have this: L298N Motor Driver Board

  1. Could that be used as a relay? Eventually I would have to buy a 12V relay, I understand.
  2. Could those transistors and diodes work? eventually I would have to buy those mentioned above.

Open it with Paint and click "Resize" button on the upper left and type in "60" where you see the "100", click SAVE icon in paint and then upload it. That should make it < 1 Mbyte.

I'll take a Mojito please....
