Arduino IDE 1.8.9 (Windoes Store 1.8.21.0) Sketch in Editor always read only

Update to Arduino IDE 1.8.9 (Windows Store 1.8.21.0). Everything fine, examples and my older sketch-files found. Compiliation and upload to board correct.

But: No sketch, including new sketch, can not be edited. Text is read only and dimmed. No error message.

Any suggestion?

Do this:

  • File > Preferences
  • Uncheck the box next to "Use external editor".
  • Click the "OK" button.

You should now be able to edit sketches in the Arduino IDE again.
