xsm-d1088BRG and shift registers

Can anyone please confirm if the xsm-d1088BRG 8*8 LED matrix is red green only, or can it handle other/all colours?

I received some as part of a gift at Christmas, and am not sure if they are red/green only.

Also, could someone please point me at an example of how to use the LED matrix using 74HC595 shift registers? I've had a look at the shift registers page here http://www.arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/ShiftOut

I'm interested in using PWM with the matrix to improve the type/range of effects available to me.

many thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forums. Have you heard of a wonderful site called Google? Behold what it can tell you: http://www.alibaba.com/product/hk1002352744-118423910-103181892/8_8_DOT_Matrix_LED_Display.html

Yes, I'm well aware of Google.

What I'm really after is a tutorial on shiftregisters & LED matrices.

Thanks.

Have you tried a search? I doubt it because there are a number of topics that come up for LED matrix and Shift registers.

And your first sentence you asked for something the datasheet could've told you...

btw, if you need more, I ordered 30 from sure, because they told me they were common cathode units, when in fact they were common anode. I'll be happy to sell them dirt cheap if you need more.

Hi, the datasheet you refer to says this:

Detailed Product Description

dotmatrix display
different size available
Common Cathode(/Common Cathode)

The link has changed aparently as it was what came up in a google search before. Regardless, two items to the right was the correct one:

The ones that sure electronics sells are common anode, the common cathode modules have an A at the end instead of a B (ARG, instead of BRG)
