4-DigitLED Display failure

Using Arduino LEDs and Multiplexing

When I connected the 4-Digit Display to the Mega, the LED on the 4 Digit Display (i bought it two on eBay) lit for a second (or so) and then went out. It's not come back on. Did I smoke the IC on the thing?

I was running the example that comes with the library (TM1637Display.h)

I saw no mention of the thing's working only working at 3.3V. Did I miss something?

Show us a good image of the wiring.

Here's the picture.

It looks correct to me. The PWR LED on the board came on briefly, then was extinguished.

I've concluded that I somehow smoked the thing.

No picture.

Generally, smoking a LED would be caused by not using current-limiting resistor.
