Project 01 - correct placement ?

This ArduinoUno was purchased for my
11 year old son for Christmas. Is there an obvious reason it won’t work? Picture attached.

We checked to make sure the cathode side of the LED is to the ground.

He is trying today with project 01 and I cannot see where the mistake may be? He noticed that the TX and RX lights are not on, but since he isn’t using a program, does this matter? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you !

The forum software blocks photos that contain exif data, which might reveal information you don't want to share such as GPS coordinates. If you can strip the exif data or convert the file to PNG then you should be able to upload the photo.
