PWM signal from RGB LED

I've started in on a new project using the Made with Magic ears from the Disney Parks. What I would like to do is essentially "add" lights to the ears so more than just the ears glow. Since these are all controlled by a specific (unknown to me) protocol via IR, I figure the best way to do this is to gut the ears and solder on an additional LED strip. The LEDS are surface mounted RGB LEDs controlled by PWM. I'd ALSO like to have chase effects (not during the show). The only way I know how to do chase effects is with an individually addressable strip.

SO - is there a way to take in the Red, Green, and Blue PWM frequency from the existing hat LED and use that to control the addressable strip?

No.

No.

Thanks! That's what I figured, I just thought I would check to make sure.

I think I'll stick with amplifying the PWM to an RGB LED Strip (non-addressable)
