Powering Sure 3208 from Arduino?

Hi everyone,

I purchased an Sure 3208 to use with what will eventually be an Arduino Sunrise Alarm clock, but now that I have it in my hands, I'm not sure how to power the board. I've been using this resource to see how to hook it up: http://scuola.arduino.cc/en/content/interfacing-arduino-uno-sure-electronics-led-dot-matrix-based-ht1632c-controller
But I was hoping I wouldn't have to use an external 5v power source.

Can I power this board from one of the arduino pins, or is that too much for the Arduino to handle?

Thanks for your help!

It helps if you link the device you're talking about when you ask questions. If this http://www.sureelectronics.net/goods.php?id=908 is the board you mean, the spec says it takes 220mA with all LEDs on, in which case you can power it from the Arduino.

That's the one! I have the red version. Thanks so much for your reply, now I can move forward!
