Arduino Ethernet + UNO

I hope this is the correct session to post this thread... Anyway, from THIS article you can read: "...It features an Atmega8U2 programmed as a USB-to-serial converter, the same chip found on the Arduino Uno..."

Does this mean that I can use an Arduino Ethernet without the USB Serial Light Adapter, just using an Arduino UNO? If so, how?
