Safe programming (USB) voltages: MKR Zero

What is the maximum voltage limit on the USB connector of MKR Zero? I need to program the board from the USB port of an ordinary (5 v.) computer, but the spec sheet says 3.3v max on any I/O pins.

So, do I need some sort of level shifter on the USB connection? What is recommended?

(I'm afraid I have already damaged an MKR Zero by connecting it to the USB on my laptop.)

Thanks!

The MKRZERO is capable of handling the 5 volts from the USB so it is doubtful that would cause any damage.

have you tried to quickly double tap the reset button to put it into bootloader mode ( a new COM port should appear for that )

The 5 volts warning is for the I/O pins not the USB so if you pushed more than 5 volts up any of those you could cause irreparable damage to the board.

Disconnect anything else that you might currently have connected to the board before proceeding any further.

Also moving you to the correct section.
