I'm ashamed to say that I have just fitted an ATMega328 to my Arduino Uno, but got the orientation wrong !!!! (What a twit !! - I am now marking the pin 1 end with a blob of Tipp-ex on both chips and board to hopefully prevent this happening again. Have a damaged either the ATMega or the Arduino ?? …
